DAY 1: LEADING LADY ‘WOMEN OF THE FUTURE ‘  BY CAMILLA AND MARC

This year Australian super brand Camilla and Marc celebrated 15 years in the business, which as most of us can appreciate is a lifetime in the world of fashion! As one of the most iconic Australian fashion brands of the past two decades, brother and sister duo Camilla and Marc had the honour of opening the MBFWA 18′ earlier this week in Sydney. They most certainly did not disappoint with their “strong future thinking women” inspired collection giving us the quintessential balance between “masculine tailoring and feminine silhouettes”. The results on the runway provoked “understated luxury” with the power suit at its full glory. (1)https://www.marieclaire.com.au/camilla-and-marc-show-mercedes-benz-fashion-week-australia-2018

This year’s We Are Kindred runway show, with their whimsical collection of Art Nouveau inspired pieces, transported us to a floral paradise. In the brand’s true signature style beautiful floral prints were on show as well as a classically asymmetric styles. Floor length gowns in sheer silk textures swept the runway to create a theatrically flourished mood, while belted party dresses with intricate embroidery detailing set a more modern and youthful tone. A range of swimwear paired with matching silk shawls was also featured. The show was a sensory experience in which the duo fashion designers take feminine chic styling to the next level.

Acler takes us towards a more contemporary direction with their MBFWA Resort 19′ show. The Collection offered audiences a selection of ‘fashion moments’ from pops of fushcia pink, to billowing balloon sleeves and out of this world quilted doona coats. The design duo appeared to pay homage to geometric minimalism that oozed of a space age conceptual aesthetic. Bold shoulders and structured corset bodices paved the way for a visual plethora of futuristic style. A use of monochromes and a grey scale colour swatch worked well in setting a classic tone and, of course, allowed the sharp uses of colour within the collection to truly stand out!

Designer extraordinaire Camilla closed Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 18′ with an extravagant fashion Japanese inspired collection. Her Resort 19′ Collection took us on an imperial journey to the blossoming streets of Japan. The celebrated designer transported us to a mystical wonderland of raining petals and tranquillity as she showcased a range of bejewelled luxe silk kimonos, free flowing soft fabrics and stunning structured bodices. Camilla’s designs appeared to be a transition from her signature relaxed fit style to a slightly more structured aesthetic with a wide range of tailored silk suit sets making an appearance in the whimsically eastern inspired collection.

The beautiful balance between 1950’s Hollywood glam inspired silk suit styling and ornately imperial print designs gave us all the elegantly refined Harajuku vibes our hearts desired!  The collection is said to be a ‘fusion of ancient traditions and modernism’ (2)https://www.marieclaire.com.au/camilla-mbfwa-jenna-redfern-interview Of course no Camilla runway show would be complete without a delightful selection of custom printed kaftans which, to our immense excitement this season was heavily influenced by beautiful Japanese landscapes and exotic florals. As a result, we saw a deluxe display of classic meets street Japanese fashion styling. All-in-all the Camilla Resort 19′ Collection was a billowing sensation of rich colours, textures and patterns that remained enriched in our minds long after its runway debut! A fantastic way to finish off what has been a sensational display of emerging Australian fashion and style.
