Our lovely customer Madison recently chose to hire our Manning Cartell ‘New Order Dress’ for her Year 10 school formal in Sydney. The dress is made from modern fabrication with a figure sculpting silhouette, tiered skirt and a gorgeous side split. A total stunner! Read more about her Year 10 formal dress rental experience below:
1. Tell us about the special occasion you had and why you wanted to wear a designer dress for it?
2. What was it about this occasion that made renting a dress so appealing for you?
I’m currently in year 10 and very lazy so I don’t have a job. As you can imagine I am living off my dad who gave me a budget of $200. I wanted to be able to wear a really nice dress but with all the stunning designer dresses out there, I found it hard to stick to my budget. The fact that I could wear a really expensive dress for the price of an affordable dress made me choose to rent. By renting a dress I had absolutely no limitations and managed to spend half of my budget (which my dad was happy about).
3. Tell us about the dress and the designer label you chose, and why you chose it?
So, the dress I chose was called the New Order Dress and the label was Manning Cartell. I first saw this at least a year before my formal when a girl from another school wore it to her formal, I absolutely fell in love with it. I was determined to get this dress for my formal although I had a problem which was the retail price ($499!!!). I tried it on about a month out of the formal date and was really happy with how it looked on my body shape so I started thinking about how to get it within budget for my formal.
4. Have you rented a dress before or was this your first time? For your first time renting a dress, what made you consider it?
I have never rented a dress before but I am really happy with my first experience and will definitely be back! I think the only thing that made me iffy about renting a dress from online, was a friend’s experience where they called her two days before her formal and said sorry we double booked the dress and can’t get it to you for the time you booked it. I was stressed out for a solid two weeks before the event because I was so nervous this would happen to be. Although, my dress came on time. In fact, it came earlier than I expected it so I was really happy with the whole process.
5. Tell us about how you first discovered GlamCorner?
When I heard about renting dresses from friends I googled ‘rent dresses’ and opened every single link on the page. This first link sent me to the GlamCorner page which had my dress and the right size. After finding it on a few websites, GlamCorner had it for the lowest price. I also decided to use GlamCorner because my cousin recommended it to me (although this was after I had already found the website, it still made it more trustworthy therefore helping me to choose it over other rental sites).
6. How was your overall experience with GC (online and offline) and would you recommend us to other women?
Because I had so many doubts about renting dresses, I set the bar really low and all of my expectations were exceeded with GlamCorner. I had the dress rented from Friday to Monday, so I thought I would only get it on the Friday afternoon but I got it on the Wednesday which made me really happy. The dress came in a nice package, it was very clean (the dress looked like it hadn’t been used once which was a surprise) and had a $100 wine voucher in it (which I couldn’t use but I could imagine would be very nice for any other over 18, considering my mum was very excited to use it). I would definitely recommend this website to other women. So far I have already mentioned it to so many friends and family.
Thanks for sharing your story Madison! You looked absolutely divine! 🙂 We’re so happy we were able to help you feel and look amazing on your special day in the perfect Year 10 formal dress. We look forward to seeing you again soon! xo
